Tech weirdness (BIUS EPISODE 1.6)

Good evening (for the readers in the Pacific), and hello to everyone else! I’d like to start off by explaining why I didn’t write up an episode last week. The first term was ending at school, therefore I had finals. My apologies, once again.

This week’s episode is going to be full of images of technology glitches and parodies!

A photo of a so called “SafeSurfer” made me laugh when I found it on the Internet:

As you can see, instead of using a screen dimmer/protector, the man in this photo is wearing what I can call a “head sweater.” Also, did you take a look a the price?! 3 easy payments of $99.95. That just doesn’t feel right :)

Another photo I’m going to show you is a screenshot I took on my iPod touch of a game called Sheep Launcher ($0.99 or free demo). The goal of the game is to launch a sheep in the sky and tap it to make it go higher, and get it as high up as possible before you miss. You can even send the sheep deep into orbit! :D
Recently, the makers of this game released an update for this application in Apple’s App Store. To celebrate the upcoming holidays, they temporarily replaced the sheep character with Santa Claus. However, they forgot to change something really embarrassing…

Verizon Wireless is the new playground bully. (BIU EPISODE 1.5)

WOW! I’m three days late to post the episode. I usually post episodes on Friday, but unfortunately, I was busy the whole week and weekend. Let’s hope that the following days will be much easier. :P

Now to the episode: the title says it all. Since the Motorola Droid smartphone came out recently, Verizon’s been attacking AT&T and the iPhone with many silly commercials. Here’s one of the them that made me laugh:

Just look at that toy elephant! His voice and the way he speaks sounds hilarious! He reminds me of the Sesame Street episodes I used to watch when I was really young. And what in the world is up with that airplane in the end? He or she (to be honest, I don’t know what it is) just suddenly starts laughing after making a statement that wasn’t funny at all, jumps around in circles and falls down. That’s total randomness, Verizon.

I love the iPhone and iPod touch, its physical features, and its software and apps. I even own and iPod Touch. However, also, to be honest, I kind of like the Droid. I’m a huge fan of Google and all its products. Heck, I love Google so much that I use it as my secondary or tertiary word processing suite when I’m not on my base computer. If I had an iPhone, I wouldn’t let it go for the Droid. I’m just not…used to other types of phones, except my Samsung SLYDE.

As many of you know, I live in the Pacific Coast of Canada where Telus, Rogers and Bell are the most popular phone providers. They make many commercials, but they never attack each other in a direct way, like Verizon’s attacking AT&T. And what the funniest part is, is that these Verizon commercials are appearing on some Canadian channels like CBC. Looks like they really want to spread the word. :-/

This is why I called Verizon the playground bully. Though, sadly, this isn’t the only commercial for the Droid campaign.

This kitten loves newspapers… (BIU EPISODE 1.4)

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you all had a great week! What I’m going to show you today is a kitten playing in a roll of newspapers. ;)

Now I thought the kitten was sweet and cute, but I laughed at how he tucked his head in his owner at the end of the video. I bet he was thinking, “Stop recording me already and start petting me.” Or, he might have be thinking, “I feel so embarrassed. Turn it off, quick. *sniff*” Overall, that is one awesome kitten.

And also, at the beginning of the video, he was probably wanting to say, “Oh hi,” when he was looking at his owner. Just love it.

The last thing I’m going to show you is a photo I found of a manipulated sign. You see, the sign’s telling people that doing graffiti is a crime. Here’s what someone did to it:

319

To me, I think this sign double-FAILs. Here’s why:

  1. The message was completely changed, which some people may find it funny.
  2. The sign was manipulated with spray paint.

The world is full of FAILs.

That’s all for this week’s episode of BossItUp Series! Thanks for reading!

Have a great weekend, Readers!

95-yard goal!? (BIU SERIES Episode 1.2)

Hey Readers! Here’s the only thing I’m going to cover today: a goal scored in soccer. Huh. Not just any goal: this one was scored 95 yards away from the goal! And by who? A freshman from SMU. I even found the video on YouTube:

(I even found the link for you guys, if you’re reading this from a mobile device: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbcpwuYcEyA)
Did you see that?! Amazing!!!
That’s all I have for this week, Readers! I’ll see you next Friday. Have a great weekend!
TGIF,
The Boss.
